Attorney General Garland Visits Ukraine

U.S. will aid in prosecuting war crimes, he said.

Attorney General Merrick Garland made an unannounced visit to Ukraine Tuesday where he met with Ukrainian Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktov. He affirmed America’s commitment to prosecuting war crimes committed during Russia’s invasion of that country.

“I’m here to continue our discussions… about the actions the United States is taking to assist the Ukrainian authorities in holding accountable those responsible for the atrocities for the war crimes that the entire world has seen,” the attorney general said Tuesday, per a video from a Department of Justice official.

He continued, “The United States is sending an unmistakable message: There is no place to hide. We and our partners will pursue every avenue available to make sure that those who are  responsible for these atrocities are held accountable.”

He expressed the unwavering support of the U.S. for the people of Ukraine and also announced the launch of a “war crimes accountability team” to centralize and strengthen the Justice Department’s efforts to investigate and prosecute individuals involved in war crime atrocities.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. officials to have wisdom in tending to the issues facing this nation.
  • For discernment for Attorney General Garland as he commits to prosecuting war crimes out of Ukraine.
